I don’t know about you, but I kept hearing this word and at first it just did not make any sense. Funny word funnel to use for a sales word yes? What is a sales funnel? Think about it for a second. We use the word funnel in many different ways. To bake a cake we funnel the liquids through the smaller opening. Or we use a one to add oil to our cars.
So, if we want to funnel information, we find the way to transport that information to our customers.
See how it just might start to make sense? What a funnel is in direct correlation to our business?
Ok, well it took me a minute to really understand it and grasp it. This is how it started to make some sense to me.

WHAT DOES A SALES FUNNEL LOOK LIKE
Imagine you walk into a department store. In this store there are really inexpensive items and really expensive items. They are offering product options and pricing. That in nutshell is what a sales funnel is.
So if you look at the picture of the graphic above, the bottom level is yellow. That is the most expensive. The top turquoise is the least expensive.
Does that make sense?
So our job is to offer our readers options. And those options need to run the levels of the funnel. Got that?
For instance if your niche is cosmetics, in the top tier you will offer a free ebook on perhaps mascara. On the next level you can offer a paid ebook on the most environmentally and non animal tested friendly mascaras. ( I am really making a point here, go with me for the sake of example).
On the next level will be an offering for sale of the best mascaras. Making sense now?
Each tier becomes more expensive and higher in perceived value.
And then for the last two tiers we start piling up the fee for each product. Next tier is a video on how to make your eyes really pop and include make up artists tips.
The last tier is one of a kind spa day with expert makeup artist to the stars of Hollywood. We can charge what is it valued at, perhaps $1500.00.

VALUE, VALUE, and more VALUE
According to Edmund Loh, in his book Crushing It, we have to get used to the idea that we are selling something. And that product has to have high value. If we cannot produce content or product that is high value we are not honoring our customers and they will not come back.
We need to be truly aware of the value we are giving and the value we are placing on the product. And then be able to stand behind our product.
For instance, we are telling people that buying that $1500.00 make up and spa session will really raise their confidence. Well then we have to deliver that. Otherwise we have broken our trust with our reader.
And our word, content, and our product is all that we have to build trust. So if we do not value the product as highly worthy the customer will not either.
And here is the other part of it. Value your products with pricing that is indicative of the value. Do not be afraid to use high price tags for your best products. After all famous speakers like Tony Robbins have price tags of $5000 and up. And the thing is, people pay this.
For me I always want things to be within everyone’s grasp. But there has to be high price products also.
HOW CAN YOU DETERMINE WHAT WORKS FOR YOUR NICHE
This is the 64 million dollar question. And in all honesty it might take several tries before we start making that perfect connection with our customers. According to Loh, it is not always necessary to invent the wheel but do add your stamp on it. Do your research. What does your niche audience want and need that will fulfill their dilemma?
Finding that out is the key to creating your levels of products that will work for your audience. And know that it might take several retweakings before we finally get the flow correct. And that is OK. Just be really intuitive to what is working.
So our sales funnel is the offerings from least expensive to most expensive products on our site. Finding the products that best suit our audience means our work is cut out for us. Do not be stopped by offering prices that show the value of the product. And always make sure that our sales funnel reflects our values and perceived value.
The concept of a sales funnel is specific to our niches. And so we do need to make sure our products solve problems for our niche audience.
So here we go. Start looking at products as how you are going to be offering value and also how you are going to build your own empire! Always with value and integrity.
As another example, we are our own marketing team. How we choose to brand ourselves is on us. How do you want your brand to reflect you or your products? Make sure you know the answer to that. And then put it into action.

Signing Up With MailChimp

The MailChimp Dashboard
From the dashboard you can create settings for a new list, and import existing emails from another list.
Two fields to pay attention to are the Default From Email and Remind People How They Got On Your List. It looks more professional and trustworthy to send newsletters from an email address on your own domain.
On the Subscribers screen, you can view, add, delete, or unsubscribe your list members. By clicking on a subscriber, you can see details like what Time Zone they signed up in, how they signed up, and how often they open your emails. The star rating for subscribers increases as they open more of your emails, signifying their level of interest.
Creating Signup Forms
Before creating a signup form, you’ll have to verify your email domain. This is to reduce spam by bot accounts. Under Settings > Campaign Defaults > Default “From” Email, click Verify Domain. You’ll see a pop-up modal that asks to send a confirmation code to the email address your newsletter will send from. Enter the verification code you receive on the popup and click Verify.
You can always access your signup forms in your account, by going to Lists > Signup Forms.
General Forms is where you can control the basic design of your automated emails. You will also see a Signup Form URL — a shortened URL which is your basic signup form. There are also quick links to share this signup URL on Facebook or Twitter.
Embedded Forms are the most common method of collecting email subscribers. Good places for embed codes are in a page sidebar, at the end of a blog post, in a top of the page call to action, or in a page footer.
Create A Campaign
Campaigns are the newsletters that you send to your list.
To run a Regular Campaign, you’ll need to select a Template. There are pre-set templates in a variety of styles, as well as drag and drop templates. You also have the option to code your own template and upload it.
If you publish on your blog regularly, and RSS feed campaign might be a good way to go. This simply sends your list your posts at a set time the day after you publish them.
Incentives For Email Signups

Start By Picking A Niche
Well, that sounds simple enough, but what is a niche? Think of a niche as a group of people with a problem looking for a solution.
The options for Niche ideas are endless. When you pick a niche, make sure it is something you have an interest in. You will be writing content for your website, so you want the niche broad enough to be able to write a post at least once a week or every other week.
One key to success is solving a problem someone has on the internet. Let’s say I am a potential visitor to your site. It is the new year, and as most people, I start thinking about diet and exercise. I may be searching the internet for ways to lose weight or find a great exercise program. Well, if you can solve that problem, chances are I will buy the product you are promoting.
How Do I Build A Website?
You’re probably thinking to yourself, I don’t know how to build a website. Well, that is exactly what I thought when I started my quest to build an online business.
Being a Doubting Thomas by nature, I obviously did lots of research. I came across many outlandish claims of making $10,000 a month while doing nothing. If you hear something that sounds too good to be true, guess what? It probably is too good to be true. There are a lot of people trying to scam you out of your hard earned money with their get-rich-quick schemes. So be wary of any such claims.
Like anything in life, you have to work hard to be a success. If anyone tells you otherwise, it simply is not true.
What is My First Step?
In my quest to find out how to build a website, I found a great program that helped me get started. The program is Wealthy Affiliate. You will see their name plastered all over the internet. There is a reason for that, they are the real deal. Trust me, if the training at Wealthy Affiliate can help me get 2 websites up and running, they can do the same for you.
They offer a free membership to get started, which is a great option to play around. However, if you are serious about an online business, I would definitely go with the premium membership.
You have a community of like-minded people with the same focus that you have. There is always someone there to help you out if you have a question or get stuck on something. You have beginners, intermediate and seasoned veterans all working together.
Keywords are basically a word or phase someone would type into a search engine to find an answer. Let’s say I am looking to find a new exercise program. I might type in “exercise program”, or even “what is the best exercise program”.
When doing keyword research, you want to go after low hanging fruit. What exactly does that mean? It means a keyword that does not have a lot of competing websites. When you are just starting out, your website won’t have a lot of authority, so the less competition the better. As a rule of thumb, the keyword should have at least 100 searches a month and 50 or less competing sites. That way it will be easier to rank in Google so people will be able to find your website.
Finding Products to Promote
In order to make money with an online business, you will have to join an affiliate program. With that being said, there are numerous affiliate programs for you to join.
Keep in mind, it is free to join an affiliate program, so if a company wants you to pay to join their program, run from them. You will be promoting that company’s products, thus earning a commission for each sale.

Next Step Is Writing Great Content
Once you have a website up and running, you will need to add content. When you are writing content for your site, make sure you are solving a problem. Don’t just write to have content on your site. If you can write with the intent of helping someone, you’re going to get visitors.

- Have the solution
- Tell your reader how the product will benefit them
- Call to action (Buy Product Now)
There is much more to building a successful online business, but following these beginning steps, you will be well on your way to success.
I think the reason some people succeed while others fail, is the willingness not to give up. Success does not happen overnight. You will have to put in the work, but the end result will be well worth it.
In my short time of being an affiliate marketer and blogger, I often find myself asking others, how did you learn that?

How often do we really experience that in our lives? Not often enough, but here on this site, we have all of that at our fingertips. We are truly living thriving, rising and incredible vibrancy.
And that is the key to success.
You know the old adage we are only as effective as the five closest people to us?
Well, I have 16 people plus our mentor, Bo Tipton, that are the best of the best. And each day we learn from each other how to be better people and better business owners. Ever since I retired in 2012 I’ve toyed with the idea of starting some sort of an online business. Prior to retirement I did begin selling on eBay which has pocketed me a little extra cash. But the older I get the more of a pain it is to go out and buy product and when it sells have to pack it up and ship it. Driving to the post office several times a week takes time and gas.
A few years ago I started looking into online business and I’m sure when I say there are a lot of different programs out there you know what I mean. The headlines, or selling points, of these programs make a whole lot of promises of easy money for very little work. Just set up a web site and the money pours in while you vacation on the beach and or sleep at night.
Since you are reading this blog I assume you have a desire to make some additional money each month. Well I’ve discovered the formula that will give you the best chance for success along with all the tools and training necessary. Read on and see if you agree.
Affiliate Marketing. What Is It?
Thousands and thousands, if not millions, of people are making a pretty good income with affiliate marketing. Affiliate Marketing is where you join affiliate programs (free) and on your blog or website you place relevant affiliate links to products you promote that are related to your chosen niche. When someone clicks on your affiliate link and buys the product you make a small commission from the sale.
To begin affiliate marketing all you need is a website to host your blog and you can soon become an affiliate marketer.
But wait a minute, you might say. I have no idea how to build a website or find a place to host it. What will I blog about? I’m getting there so read on and the pieces will fall together.
Basic Training or Learning The Ropes
What is a niche? A niche is just a certain part of a market or more simply expressed a niche is an audience. When determining your niche pick something that is an interest or a passion of yours. Perhaps a hobby that you know something about or maybe a topic you wish to learn about. You do not need to be an expert in this particular niche because as you progress through the training and do your research and writing you will become the “expert.”
The training will quickly have you building your own website and it is entirely possible to have your own website on the first day of your training, FREE. It may take a little time finding your niche but how to choose a niche is explained in detail in the training. You are also taught how to find a domain name. You can use the free domain names available with your training or you can purchase your own .com if you wish.
Writing Content For Your Blog
You might be thinking here that I am not a professional writer how am I going to write articles. It’s easy as you do not have to really be a writer. All you have to do is be able to communicate and that is something we do everyday of our lives. We communicate our thoughts to family, friends and co-workers all day long every day. Writing a blog is no different. If you can carry on a conversation you can write a blog. I had my blog online within three days and was writing content on day three. If I can do it, anyone can.
You will learn keywords and keyword phrases that will guide your readers to your online blog as they search out the information you write. Basically, a keyword is something you would type into the Google search box when you are looking for information. An example might be “How to build a house”,” How to fix a leaky toilet”. You type keywords everyday whenever you search for something on the internet and those keywords will take you to someone’s website where they write about the subject you are searching for. Keywords are what Google uses to index and rank your site and that is what will take a little time as you will have to gain Google’s trust by writing content a couple times a week.
It sounds more complicated than it really is and you are taught step by step how to research keywords and you are given keyword research tools to assist you in finding the perfect words to use.
The Elements of Good Content
Each blog post you write should contain these four elements. In each post you will want to:
- State the problem (or what your reader is searching for).
- Offer a solution.
- Tell your reader the benefit of this solution.
- Tell them what to do or “call to action” (guide them to your product or solution)
If you do this in each blog post you will be providing value for your reader. If you do this on a consistent basis then google will begin to recognize you as an authority and thus rank your pages higher in the search results. A higher Google rank will mean increase traffic to your website thus more people buying the products you are promoting.
You will need to develop good work habits and dedicate severalhours a day to working on your blog. Success will not come without effort on your part so you need to treat this as at least a part time job and not as a hobby. The more work you can put in on your blog the faster you will see results, but do not expect it to happen overnight. Realistically it could take you 6 months to a year to get to a point you are seeing good results. But the GOOD news is once you have made your blog a successful money maker you can start another one and see results come faster. You can start as many as you like and keep multiplying your efforts, so the possibilities are endless and your earning potential will only be limited by what you put into your efforts.

The catch is there is no catch!
I’ve just barely scratched the surface here so let me conclude by letting you in on what I have found.

We have all heard the pros and cons of Social Media and specifically Facebook. The questions have been, whether or not it truly works for our business or how much time we should invest in it. How can Facebook be our friend too? Read on.
Here are 5 tips to help our business:
1. The magic number is 1,000 friends. Getting to that number means that we now have authority on our page And FB will share our news feed with more people. So do continue to friend people.
2. Comment 3x daily on FB.
3. One and only one, comment should be a link to our business.
4. One comment should be conversational. For instance, who is having sunshine today? Or do you like cold weather or warm weather?
5. The last link is another way to brand our business. Find a saying or picture, and at the very bottom corner add just your website URL. ie, success-full-living.com, in tiny letters at the bottom. You will be amazed at how many referrals or people will be driven to your site from that alone.
So doing these 5 things can definitely add up to more business. So the question is, are you ready to dive in and make it happen?
And please do remember , and this is important. That between your link should be the other two things. That way we are not seen as spamming. Even though we are trying to build our business. We do not have to make it so apparent. We just want to make sure that we are being seen as conversational and engaged.
Try hard to make your page seem friendly. Ask how everyone is and engage with others.
And here is a bonus tip.. ready?
Go find 5 pages that are similar to your niche, and start being visible there. Once people are used to seeing you in that space, it begins to build recognition and then branding. This will lead to people coming back to your page. And that will help both with traffic and branding. It’s a win win.

It is truly that simple. For taking control of our time allows us to provide what I call the sisters. Focus and clarity. When we have those two in place, we know exactly what needs to be done.
So here is a sample schedule:
30 minutes for work related emails (“work related” is the message here, no personal)
30 minutes for Social Media, again work related only
30 minutes for the really important task of answering comments on our blogs
30 minutes if you have other sites that you need to comment on
1. 5 hours for writing blog post for that day.
AND THAT IS THAT!
So there you go.
And the best part of this, is that once we have the schedule down pat, it won’t matter if we are making 1k or 5k per month. It will still take the same amount of time. That sounds really wonderful doesn’t it?
We do not have to work like a job where we would have to put in extra work.
We just work the system and get wonderful results.
AND IT BREAKS DOWN THIS WAY
Oh and did you know that if:
we are making 1k per month, our hourly rate is $11.24
we are making 2k per month, our hourly rate is $23.09
we are making 3k per month, our hourly rate is $34.63
Totally sounds doable, yes?

Site load speed is an important factor that determines your visitors user experience (UX) and therefore a ranking factor in google.
As such if you want to improve the performance of your website in search engine rankings, you need to pay attention to your site load speed.
Site Load Speed Test
You can check your current site load speed by doing a site load speed test at tool.pingdom.com which you can do for free as seen on the screenshot below.
As seen above, the site load speed for my blog is 422 milliseconds, which is exceptionally fast. Anything under 1 second is exceptionally fast and provides a great user experience (UX).
How Did I Get My Site To Load So Fast
Well, for 1, I use a really good hosting service available through wealthy affiliate called siterubix. Siterubix is one of the most advanced website building and hosting platforms available and is available for free via wealthy affiliate.
As a premium member of wealthy affiliate you have access to SitePlus+, which has a built in feature to improve your site load speed. All you need to do is to turn is on.
You find it under site manager as seen below and then click on SitePlus+.
You will be taken to the page below after which you just turn on the feature.
Secondly I’m careful not to use too many plugins on my wordpress site. Siterubix recommends not using more than 5 plugins as a general rule as this can have a detrimental impact on your site load speed.
How Do You Determine Which Plugin Is Slowing Down Your Site Load Speed
You can either check your site load speed by doing a site load speed test at tool.pingdom.com before you install the plugin and then do another test after you install the plugin and see if there is a significant difference in the site load speed.
Alternatively you can use a plugin called P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler).
This is a free wordpress plugin which will enable you to profile your installed plugins to determine which plugins are having the most impact on your site load speed. You’ll find it by searching for it under WP plugins as seen below.
Once you’ve installed and activated the plugin you will find it under tools as seen below. You will then start the scan and select auto scan. The plugin will then run the test which should take a few seconds after which you will select view results.
The results will be displayed as seen above. The plugin gives you the total impact of your plugins on site load speed and a breakdown by plugin.
You will then be in a position to determine whether the plugins you’ve installed are worth keeping.

Broken links, hardware, chains, cryptocurrency, bots…well, let’s just add to all the above. A broken link is what you call a link that is no longer valid as a ‘direction tool, a sort of GPS locator’ which helps you to find information on your website. It is usually a notice that shows – 404 – a broken link. The link is your website’s URL or according to Wikipedia:
‘A Uniform Resource Locator (URL), colloquially termed a web address, is a reference to a web resource that specifies its location on a computer network and a mechanism for retrieving it. A URL is a specific type of Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), although many people use the two terms interchangeably.[a] URLs occur most commonly to reference web pages (http), but are also used for file transfer (ftp), email (mailto), database access (JDBC), and many other applications.
Most web browsers display the URL of a web page above the page in an address bar. A typical URL could have the form http://www.example.com/index.html, which indicates a protocol (http), a hostname (www.example.com), and a file name (index.html).’
For whatever strange reason, there are times when links don’t always lead to where they are intended. This could be because of computer hackers, revised posts, a few of the more common occurrences.
What Kind Of Effect Do Broken Links Have On Your Website?
Well, let’s take a look:
- They have the potential to reduce the number of visitors to your website (because your reader will not be able to find the information that you are linking to).
- You may lose some of your repeat or current subscribers because of annoying dead links which lead nowhere.
- It might leave a bad impression on your website in the eyes of your visitors (people like to know that the sites they visit can be trusted to provide good and safe information).
- This will also have the potential to play havoc with your website’s ranking with any of the major search engines – Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, et al.
You Might Be Wondering Why?
The answer is simple – because they simply cannot get there!
After a while, as you start adding more and more information to your growing website, there is the off chance that some of your existing links might no longer work – they will be broken!
After a while, once you have been working on your website, adding more and more information, the possibility also increases that there might be links that no longer work.

You may find out through any of these notification processes:
- A software company that you might have entrusted the responsibility of your website’s routine maintenance – and so they will notify you and even fix the broken links on your website.

- Via website analytics – Google Webmaster, for example.
Well, this is good news, knowing is half the battle won, fixing it is the other half!
Luckily, there are tools to get the job done.

There are websites that can help you to effect repairs of broken links – both paid as well as free services. Here is your free online broken link checker list as well as some paid services. Have a look and see if any of them can help you make things right for your website!
This one is free. It will isolate the broken links on your website. It is quite simple to use. Once you have accessed the site link, just copy and paste your website’s URL into the search box and let the software do the rest.
This broken link checker is more advanced. It is more for the ‘computer geek’ in you rather than a ‘newbie’. It is more technical in its report. However, it is accessed in the same way as above.
3/Xenu Link Sleuth
With this software and website, it is very different. This one has to be downloaded for it to perform any form of checking on your website. You might not want to do this, however, the choice is up to you. It is also very advanced in its application and results.
Also, a very easy software to use. It offers both free and paid services. You should be able to get enough information just using the free service. It gives you the option to check your whole website or just one URL.
Taking care of the health of your website is like taking care of your baby, especially while it is still young. There is so much to learn and to implement.
However, it is a great position to be in!
